The WNC Nature Center is 40 acres of animals in their native habitats. It provides an opportunity to learn, to touch and to know our rich natural heritage through educational and interactive exhibits.   

Parks:

Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park. One of NC's newest state parks, Chimney Rock brings the best of the mountains together in one place. An elevator inside the mountain or a network of stairs and boardwalks takes you to 315 ft Chimney Rock and amazing 75-mile views of Hickory Nut Gorge, Lake Lure and the Carolina Piedmont.  

Pisgah National Forest. The most visited park in North Carolina offers over 400 miles of hiking trails, waterfalls, wildlife observation, fishing, horseback riding and much more!

DuPont State Park. This state park boasts waterfalls and over 90 miles of biking and hiking trails. The 10, 256 acres of forest are prefect for wildlife sightings, hunting, fishing and horseback riding.

Cesars Head State Park. This beautiful park is perfect for nature photographers as it boasts panoramic views and of 50 miles oh hiking trails. It is also home to the Raven Cliffs Falls one of the highest in the eastern US

Gorges State Park. The newest North Carolina state recreation area and the only park west of Asheville, this 7,000 acre park and 3,000 acre game land boast numerous attractions including hiking, horseback riding and biking.

Nantahala National Forest. This national forest includes the Whitewater Falls with its 411-foot mountain plunge. The park includes whitewater sports, hiking and horseback riding.

Mt. Mitchell State Park. This Park is named for the dark evergreen forests of spruce and fir trees, the Black Mountain Range is home to the highest peaks East of the Rockies.  Mt. Mitchell State Park allows visitors to visit these peaks, as well as enjoy the parks great outdoor activities including wildlife, hiking, camping and much more.

Great Smoky Mountains North Park. The most visited park in the Blue Ridge Parkway, this area boasts beautiful vistas and sightseeing.
