A summer institute and festival in the mountains of scenic western North Carolina. The oldest frame house in Western North Carolina, the Allison-Deaver House is located on N.C. 280 adjacent to the Forest Gate Shopping Centers in Pisgah Forest. Dating back to 1815, the Allison-Deaver House has been revived as a house-restoration museum by the Transylvania County Historical Society.

This national forest includes the Whitewater Falls with its 411-foot mountain plunge is the Highest Fall in Eastern North America. The park includes whitewater sports, hiking and horseback riding.
