		Balsam Mountain Preserve Balsam Mountain Preserve is designed as a "community within a park". 3,000 of its 4,400 acres are permanently protected from development by conservation easements, and with only 354 homes, Balsam Mountain Preserve is far and away the lowest density Club community in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Jim Chaffin and Jim Light, internationally renowned for their environmentally sensitive development principals, have created an authentic and family oriented mountain community in a sought-after, natural environment. 		Bear Lake Reserve Bear Lake Reserve is a 2100 acre community built on of the last undeveloped lakes in the region. The lake has over 13 miles of shoreline and is 500 acres. One of Bear Lake Reserve’s amenities is the Mill Pond Pavilion which features an indoor kitchen and sitting area, covered outdoor seating and fireplace, and two stocked trout ponds. Another beautiful amenity is the outdoor amphitheatre which has hosted many local bands as well as national artist such as Chris Isaac, Michael McDonald, and Bad Company. The Bear Lake Reserve Golf Club allows you to get in 9 holes of golf at an elevation of 4,000 feet with breathtaking views in every direction and still have time to get down the Lake Club.
